Gigi

Music by Frederick Loewe

Lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner

Synopsis

Set in the opulent world of Paris at the turn of the 20th century, 'Gigi' follows the story of a young girl being groomed by her grandmother and great-aunt to become a courtesan. Gigi, however, is more interested in enjoying her carefree youth than conforming to societal expectations. Her charm and wit catch the attention of Gaston Lachaille, a wealthy and bored playboy who has grown tired of the superficiality of his social circle. As their friendship deepens, Gaston begins to see Gigi in a new light, leading to a romantic transformation for both of them. The story explores themes of love, independence, and the clash between tradition and modernity, culminating in a heartfelt resolution where love triumphs over convention.
