Synopsis

Hairspray is set in 1962 Baltimore and follows Tracy Turnblad, an optimistic teenager with big dreams and even bigger hair. Tracy longs to dance on 'The Corny Collins Show,' a local TV program, and when she earns a spot, she becomes an overnight sensation. However, Tracy's newfound fame leads her to confront racial segregation and advocate for integration on the show. Along the way, she befriends a diverse group of characters, including Link Larkin, her crush, and Motormouth Maybelle, a soulful activist. With humor, heart, and catchy tunes, Hairspray celebrates individuality, acceptance, and the power of standing up for what's right.
