Music by Arthur Sullivan

Lyrics by W.S. Gilbert

Synopsis

H.M.S. Pinafore is a comic operetta that takes place aboard a British naval ship. The story revolves around the love between Josephine, the captain's daughter, and Ralph Rackstraw, a lowly sailor. Despite their mutual affection, Josephine is expected to marry Sir Joseph Porter, the First Lord of the Admiralty, as arranged by her father. The plot thickens as Sir Joseph's pompous demeanor and Ralph's heartfelt declarations of love create tension. Ultimately, a surprising twist involving a baby-switch at birth resolves the class divide, allowing Josephine and Ralph to marry, while Sir Joseph is humorously paired with another character. The operetta is a satire of British social hierarchy and naval traditions, filled with witty dialogue and memorable songs.
