Synopsis

Hot Mikado is a jazz-infused adaptation of Gilbert and Sullivan's classic operetta 'The Mikado'. Set in a vibrant, stylized Japan, the story follows Nanki-Poo, the son of the Mikado, who has fled his father's court to escape an arranged marriage to the formidable Katisha. Disguised as a wandering minstrel, Nanki-Poo arrives in the town of Titipu in search of his true love, Yum-Yum, who is betrothed to her guardian, Ko-Ko, the town's Lord High Executioner. Chaos ensues when the Mikado demands an execution to uphold the law, and the characters must navigate a series of comedic misunderstandings, romantic entanglements, and clever schemes. The musical blends the original story's satirical humor with a lively score featuring swing, jazz, and blues influences, creating a fresh and energetic take on the classic tale.
