Synopsis
Set in 1899 New York City, 'Newsies' follows the story of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a group of teenage 'newsies' who sell newspapers on the streets. When publishing giants Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the expense of the newsboys, Jack rallies his fellow newsies to strike and fight for their rights. Along the way, Jack forms an alliance with Katherine Plumber, an ambitious young reporter eager to make a name for herself by covering the strike. As tensions rise, the newsies face challenges from the powerful newspaper tycoons and the police, but their determination and unity inspire a movement that changes the course of history. The musical celebrates the power of youth, resilience, and standing up for justice.
