Synopsis
The Wiz is a retelling of L. Frank Baum's classic story 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,' reimagined with an African-American cultural perspective. The story follows Dorothy, a young girl from Kansas, who is swept away by a tornado to the magical land of Oz. To find her way home, she must journey to the Emerald City to meet the mysterious Wiz, who is said to have the power to grant her wish. Along the way, she befriends the Scarecrow, who seeks a brain; the Tin Man, who desires a heart; and the Cowardly Lion, who longs for courage. Together, they face challenges, confront their fears, and discover the strength within themselves. The musical blends soul, R&B, and gospel music to create a vibrant and uplifting celebration of self-discovery, friendship, and empowerment.
