Whistle Down the Wind

Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber

Lyrics by Jim Steinman

Synopsis

Set in a small, deeply religious town in Louisiana during the 1950s, 'Whistle Down the Wind' follows the story of a group of children who discover a mysterious man hiding in their barn. Believing him to be Jesus Christ, they vow to protect him from the adults, who are searching for an escaped convict. As the children’s faith in the man grows, the adults’ fear and suspicion escalate, leading to a dramatic and emotional confrontation. The musical explores themes of innocence, belief, and redemption, as the children’s unwavering trust clashes with the harsh realities of the adult world. Ultimately, the story questions the nature of faith and the power of forgiveness in the face of adversity.
