Synopsis

Wicked tells the story of Elphaba, a misunderstood young woman born with green skin, and her unlikely friendship with the popular and ambitious Glinda. Set in the magical land of Oz, the musical explores the events leading up to the arrival of Dorothy and the Wizard, offering a fresh perspective on the classic tale. Elphaba's journey begins at Shiz University, where she discovers her extraordinary talents and struggles to fit in. As she and Glinda navigate their differences, they form a deep bond that is tested by love, politics, and the pursuit of power. As Elphaba becomes increasingly disillusioned with the Wizard's corrupt regime, she decides to stand up for what she believes in, earning her the label of the 'Wicked Witch of the West.' Meanwhile, Glinda chooses a different path, embracing her role as the 'Good Witch' and the public's adoration. Their choices lead to a dramatic confrontation, revealing the complexities of morality, friendship, and the cost of standing up for one's beliefs. Ultimately, Wicked redefines the boundaries between good and evil, showing that the truth is often more complicated than it seems.
