Resources for Theatre Parents
Being a theatre parent is a rewarding but sometimes confusing experience. Our Backstage Pass guides are written specifically to help parents understand the world of youth theatre. Learn what happens at auditions, what to expect during rehearsals, how to prepare for show week, and how to support a nervous or shy performer. Every guide is written in plain language with practical, actionable advice.
Finding the Right Society
Choosing the right theatre society or drama group for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make. Stagey's society directory lets you browse groups in your area, read about their history and ethos, and see what productions they have planned. Look for societies that welcome young members, have clear safeguarding policies, and offer age-appropriate productions.
Safety and Safeguarding
Keeping young performers safe is Stagey's top priority. The platform has comprehensive age-based safety controls. Users under 13 cannot create accounts. Users aged 14 to 17 have restricted features, including limited location sharing. Guardian consent is tracked for young users. All society administrators posting content are verified. If you have any safeguarding concerns, our support team is always available to help.
