Founded in 1909 as Scunthorpe Operatic Society performing mainly Operettas, we have gradually evolved and now perform a mix of contemporary and the old standards which led to us changing the name of the Society in 2010 to reflect the type of shows we do now. These have included Oliver, South Pacific, 9-5, Kipps, Honk and Bad Girls the musical. Changing the name has improved ticket sales and encouraged new members. We welcome anyone with a love of all aspects of theatre from the age of 16 upwards. Sadly our junior section founded in 1988 had to fold in 2019 but this acted as a feeder group to the adult society and I am proud to say several former members of that group still perform with the society.
