Wolverton was the world’s first railway town and Wolverton Gilbert and Sullivan Society drew many of its first members from the men and women employed in the giant railway works established by the London & Birmingham Railway in 1838. By the 21st century the society covered not just that busy town but the whole of Milton Keynes and surrounding area.
